Its one thing to hear from someone else that an artist is terrific. Its quite another to hear it for yourself. So go ahead and click the play button on the video above, and come to your own conclusion.
We believe you’ll be in agreement with all the rest of the little ‘forest animules,’ that Maynard is at the top of his game. And that Raboculus makes for a pretty good protege, too.
But Maynard is in a class by himself, atop the veritable ‘Mount Galumpus.’ It’s little wonder he’s earned that throne in Jonesborough. (Thanks Phil Straus!)
A master of stage and screen (see evidence above), Maynard was the 2004 Ruminant of the Year. He is also an accomplished writer. In fact his first book, ‘The Uglified Ducky,’ won the coveted Texas Bluebonnet Award (2011).
Building on that success, Maynard is now touring in support of his second book, ‘Rapunzel and the Seven Dwarfs.’ This engaging tale of love and commerce is told in that most delectable dialect of the the piney woods, North American Moose. Of course it includes a ‘Moose-English Glossary,’ for those most comfortable in their own fur.
We also hear tell of a new new double CD, ‘Maynard Moose Tales, Live from Jonesborough,’ that was released by its namesake (at its namesake) during the National Storytelling Festival, October 8-10. Look for it at the Lower Brandywine Storytelling Festival on November 4-5. Or visit the Claflin Trading Post, if you just can’t stand it, and you have to get your hooves on it before then!
