ByHeart is the storytelling duo of Mary-beth Howard and Shelley Gnade. For more than a dozen years now they have been telling stories in two voices. Together they share stories from many cultures and traditions, illustrating our common bonds. Their performances often incorporate movement, song, and other means of creative expression.
Mary-beth and Shelley believe that storytelling is a sacred art. As old as time.
"Story is where we find the meanings and reasons for all life's questions," they say. "Myths, folktales, and biblical stories are at the heart of the telling.
This is ByHeart’s first appearance at the Lower Brandywine Storytelling Festival, where they will be conducting the Workshop “Scripture By Heart: The Art of Biblical Storytelling.”
